Goldenvoice’s inaugural Ocean Way Festival, scheduled for September 26–27 on Santa Monica Beach, has been canceled due to erosion caused by Hurricane Marie, organizers announced. The two-day event was expected to draw up to 45,000 attendees per day.
“Due to the impacts of Hurricane Marie, the City of Santa Monica has canceled the inaugural Ocean Way festival,” organizers said in a statement to ticketholders. “Storm surf and runoff has caused significant beach erosion and the festival can no longer be safely held as planned.”
The lineup included The Killers, Jack White and Sublime on Saturday, and Olivia Dean, Khruangbin and Durand Jones & the Indications on Sunday. Single-day and two-day passes, priced from $249 to $2,250, will be refunded automatically within 5–7 business days.
Santa Monica City Council member Dan Hall said the decision prioritized safety. “The safety of festival-goers, our residents and the Pier must remain our priority,” he stated. Organizers said plans are underway to bring the festival back to Santa Monica in 2027.
The cancellation follows the last-minute cancellation of the inaugural LA Jazz Festival at Dockweiler Beach earlier this year, also in Southern California.
