Niko Rubio will release her debut album late night swim on October 30, 2026, marking her first full-length project about six years into her career. The album blends alternative and global influences, drawing from her Los Angeles upbringing and Latina heritage, with sonic elements from London and Jamaica.
The next single, “dream,” will be released on September 25. Previous singles from the album include “kitty” and the viral hit “tokyo,” which has received support from Suki Waterhouse, Joe Jonas, Reneé Rapp, Vince Staples, and Barry Can’t Swim on social media.
“The inspiration for ‘late night swim’ was heartbreak, dealing with a breakup, and also self-discovery through loss,” Rubio said. “I want people to feel a sense of escapism and nostalgia and hopefully find a release for hidden emotions through listening to my album.”
Rubio collaborated with producer Lester Mendez, known for work with Shakira and Santana, alongside producers Wyatt Bernard, Austin Corona, Rodiah, Zacari, Olivia Bond, and Lennon Kloser. Beyond her solo work, Rubio has written songs for Gwen Stefani, Suki Waterhouse, and the Warning.
