My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way said the band hopes to record a new album during the closing show of their Black Parade tour at the Alamodome in San Antonio on September 12, 2026.
“We’ve kind of really always wanted to make another record, so we hope that life allows us to do that,” Way told the crowd. “You guys kept us alive so long. You guys deserve another record. I don’t know when it’ll be. But it’ll be awesome.”
Way stopped short of announcing an official timeline, title, or release date. The remarks represent the band’s most direct public acknowledgment of a potential fifth studio album since their 2019 reunion.
My Chemical Romance last released a full-length album in 2010 with Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Since reforming, the band released one standalone single, “The Foundations of Decay” in 2022, and has focused on touring.
The band is currently performing their 2006 album The Black Parade in full as part of a 20th-anniversary celebration. The tour has been extended into a global stadium run billed as The Black Parade 2026, with dates across North America, the U.K., and Europe. A 20th-anniversary reissue of The Black Parade is due in October 2026.
