Jenna Ortega on 'Taste' Video: No Choreography, Shot in Days Music News
Actress Jenna Ortega revealed she learned of her role in Sabrina Carpenter's 'Taste' music video just days before filming began in 2024, with minimal preparation for the campy horror-themed shoot.

Jenna Ortega disclosed that her appearance in Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste” music video required little advance planning. The actress told Esquire that she received minimal notice before shooting commenced.

“I swear to you, nothing about that music video was choreographed,” Ortega said. “Like we were just running around. We had no time to prep or really talk about it.”

The video, released in 2024, features Ortega and Carpenter in a campy horror-themed narrative where the pair pursue each other with weapons including a machete, shotgun, and chainsaw. Ortega described the kissing sequence as improvised: “I would stand there, I would kiss a man. They would tell me to hold it. I stayed in that position. Sabrina would come in. She would kiss me, and then we just did that a few times. So, it was like a carousel of lovers.”

Ortega cited the chainsaw sequence as her favourite scene to film. “I would say that just felt really camp and fun, and we had nice little outfits on,” she said, adding that she believed the prop had a nickname referencing Carpenter, something like the “Espresso 3000.”

Following the video’s release, Carpenter thanked her team and praised Ortega. “I had one person in mind for this and that was the one and only @jennaortega,” Carpenter wrote. “Watching her on screen is a true dream come true and I’m so inspired, impressed, and amazed by her.”
