Gaga Music, the independent Australian publishing and sync specialist based in Melbourne, has expanded its partnership with London-based Warp Publishing, announced Monday, August 31 on the eve of the 2026 BIGSOUND conference in Brisbane.
The two independent music businesses have collaborated since 2017, with Gaga Music initially representing Warp Publishing’s catalogue across Australia and New Zealand, followed by Warp representing Gaga’s catalogue in the United Kingdom. Under the new arrangement, Warp becomes an active partner in Gaga Music alongside founder Grant Gillies. Warp Publishing director Theo Seffusatti and general manager Nadine Riezouw join Gillies on Gaga’s board as directors.
“In a climate increasingly shaped by consolidation and external investment, it’s important that independent music companies continue to offer a genuinely creative and ethical alternative in rights management,” Gillies said. “Warp is an iconic name in the global music community, with an extraordinary history and forward-thinking roster.”
The partnership aims to expand global opportunities for songwriters, composers and represented catalogues through sync, score and songwriting opportunities, particularly across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Established in 2007, Gaga Music administers and pitches over 100,000 titles through offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. Its catalogue includes works from Third Side Music, Arts & Crafts, Secretly Canadian, PIAS, Thrill Jockey, City Slang, Low Profile and Erased Tapes. Warp Publishing, operating for 15 years with offices in London and Los Angeles, provides music publishing services for artists including Boards of Canada, Death Grips, Khruangbin, Kelsey Lu and Dry Cleaning.
With the new arrangement, Gaga Music splits from former partners and stakeholders at Inertia Music.
