Dolly Parton shared a health update on Friday, saying she is dealing with ongoing medical issues that emerged while caring for her husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025.
“I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl,” Parton told People. She noted previous health challenges in the early 1980s but emphasized her continued work despite current setbacks. “Even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin’,” she said.
Parton appeared virtually to accept the Poet’s Award at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday and greeted fans via video for the opening of Dollywood’s NightFlight Expedition ride in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, citing dehydration and dizziness as reasons for not attending in person.
The singer is developing “avatar performances” with companies still in early development stages. Her SongTeller Hotel in Nashville—featuring two live music venues, a speakeasy, café, and the Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum—is scheduled to open next month. The museum will be the largest exhibit celebrating her life, spanning her career from her early years to international success.
