Cardi B said the music video for her single ‘AH HA’, shot in Brooklyn, cost more than $1 million to produce, with the rapper attributing the high expense to permit fees and NYPD involvement.
Speaking on Twitter Spaces on August 27, Cardi B explained she originally budgeted around $250,000 for the visual, which she wanted to film in the Bronx with a street New York summer aesthetic. She was directed instead to Sunset Park in Brooklyn.
“Because I’m Cardi B, I be getting overcharged,” Cardi B said. “To get permits, I know for a fact the average rapper that do music videos on blocks, it doesn’t cost that much.” She said the NYPD deployed approximately 40 officers for the shoot, which she said made it difficult to film.
Cardi B also stated she will not film music videos in public settings again, citing overstimulation from the large number of onlookers and the difficulty of controlling an open set.
The single ‘AH HA’, produced by DJ SqanQo, was released on July 31, 2026 as Cardi’s first single of the year. The music video arrived on August 28. The track debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and currently sits at No. 40 on the chart.
