Noah Kahan Objects to White House Using His Song in Trump Post Music News
The White House used Noah Kahan's "American Cars" to soundtrack Instagram photos of President Trump visiting a General Motors test site in Michigan on July 28, 2026. Kahan said he would never approve use of his music to support the Trump administration.

The White House posted a series of Instagram photos on Monday depicting President Donald Trump’s visit to General Motors’ flagship test site in Michigan. The photo carousel was soundtracked to Noah Kahan’s “American Cars,” a song Kahan wrote for his sister about family problem-solving.

After fans tagged Kahan in the comments, the singer replied on Tuesday: “Would never approve of my music being used in support of you or this administration.”

The Trump administration has faced criticism from multiple musicians over unauthorized use of their work. In July 2026, Katy Perry objected after the White House TikTok account used her song “Firework” as backing for military strike footage. “I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it,” Perry said on X. The month prior, Ariana Grande demanded the administration stop using her music in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement TikTok video depicting federal agents arresting people.
